Chapter 400: Ruin him slowly with his past...

By the tDavis left the club, it was already midnight. His eyes lingered on the glittering neon lights of the city,

yet his heart felt no trace of admiration.

At the moment, he couldn’t stop worrying about how to explain the situation to old man Allen at home, to

Deborah, to the Santiago family, and above all...to his grandfather, Elliot.

No doubt he was bound to return to a restless estate where both staff and inhabitants were already hanging by a

thin thread of patience.

Lost in thought, his phone suddenly buzzed. He glanced at the screen and froze. "Speak of the devil..." he

muttered under his breath, sliding his finger across to pick the call.

In a calm tone, he greeted, "Grandpa?"

There was no doubt Elliot had already heard of the incident. What information could possibly escape their Mafia

Veteran and Lord?

"Davis, what is going on in the Allen family? How is my daughter? And who was bold enough to move their hands

and legs? What are you doing about it?" Elliot's voice fired questions in one breath.

Davis felt his ears buzzing. He wasn't sure if he had heard them all, or if the words had simply flooded in and out.

He parted his lips to respond, only to realize he hadn't actually grasped the questions fully.

Taking a steadying breath thinking of what to say, he was met with another wave of impatience: "Davis, have

you suddenly gone dumb?" Elliot barked from the other end.

"Grandpa, no... | was about to give you an answer."

"Anyway, don’t bother with excuses or whatever answer you are planning to give me. Just cback to your

house. | am already close by."

Davis sighed in frustration. The day couldn’t possibly get worse. "I am on my way," he clipped.

The call ended with a sharp beep. Davis stared at his phone for a long moment. The weight on his shoulders

seemed to grow heavier...yet another person was coming to demand answers.

Though Elliot might have been his grandfather, that man sure knows how to choose girls over boys and the fact

that Jessica was his goddaughter and granddaughter-in-law makes it more complicated.

"Sir," Ethan’s voice broke the silence, "from the result you got from the club, what do you plan to do?"

It hadn't truly been a club, but rather a hidden world Davis accessed only when urgent information was needed.

A world that constantly tempted him to fall deeper, but one he always kept at arm’s length.

Perhaps it was because of principle, or perhaps because he refused to stain his own hands. Whatever the case,

Ethan never asked...the reason was one Davis kept to himself.

This world wasn’t a simple one. It was a network, a black market, a place where information was currency...sold

to the highest bidder, or taken by the stronger opponent, often at a dire cost.

A world that always tethers him on the edge of embracing the reason his mother had left the Ravensdale family

just to live a simple life with Alex...his father.

And yet, tonight, Davis had secured answers with a flick of his fingers, answers his men might have struggled

weeks to uncover.

A faint smile tugged at his lips, though his eyes remained cold as they gazed into the distance. "He always

believed there was a secret place in this world. But | would be patient enough to ruin him slowly...with his past."

"Are you implying..." Ethan started, but Davis’ low voice cut him off.

"Just imagine him waking up with one of his darkest deeds suddenly appearing on his phone." His lips curved

darkly.

How he wished he would be there to witness the fear and shock to live well when he knows someone is aware of

his secret.

Ethan cringed briefly, his throat tightening. "That's... terrifying."

"Have you checked the last call that lured her from the group?" Davis asked.

Ethan nodded. "It was the Santiago family butler. She called her following Lady Matilda's situation."

Davis’ brow furrowed. "Unlikely," he muttered after a pause.

"I checked. Lady Matilda was rushed to the hospital, and even now, they're restless about the Madam. She said

she was on her way but she never arrived."

"Anything else unusual with them?" Davis pressed.

"From my last call, Lady Matilda went into shock when she heard of the accident. | presthey already had

someone keeping tabs on her."

"Seems Sylas took his tto plan this."

Ethan exhaled deeply. "You might be interested in this footage." He handed over his laptop.

Davis took the laptop, his eyes narrowed... In the footage several feet away from the Allen Group, a sleek black

car pulled and a young man stepped down from the car.

A nose mask strapped across his face, he walked directly into the building. The security men halted him, but

after a brief exchange, they let him through.

It was clear he had given them a convincing reason... possibly to meet someone or visiting a department and

since Allen Group deals in several products, their office continually brimmed with guests and it’s quite difficult to

discern one with ill intentions.

In the next clip, the masked man appeared in the parking lot. An earbud tucked in place, he walked past rows of

cars before stopping briefly at Jessica's vehicle.

His vigilance was sharp as he scanned the environment but then he swiftly abandoned the spot and hid behind a

pillar.

He repeatedly scanned the area before he shook his head and boarded. There is no doubt he had suspected

something.

But as she wanted to board, she paused briefly, carefully scanned the lot, her brow creased tightly, then she

spoke to the driver for a while.

It seemed as though they argued briefly because from the angle of the camera, her serious face had been

captured but not the driver.

popped through his mind in torrents.

Had she noticed she was being followed?f

Was she expecting him to pull this footage?

Had she expected something wrong on that trip?

If so, why did she still board the car?

"Have you checked this man amongst the men captured?" Davis asked after thinking for a while.

"No... | am still working on finding out his actual identity."

"Hire an artist to sketch his features without the mask. | want a clear face." Davis said.

He handed the laptop back to Ethan, his gaze sharp as steel. "He is a crucial link to the ones still at large."
