Chapter 893
Marguerite stared in shock.
Beside her, Aberdeen's mouth was clamped shut by her father's large hand. The little girl's cheeks puffed red
with the effort not to speak, her eyes brimming with confusion and irritation.
Her father quickly offered an explanation. "Sorry about that. My daughter's a child actress-she probably thought
you were someone from her film crew."
He leaned down to whisper in his daughter's ear, his voice low and patient. "You remember we signed a non-
disclosure agreement on set, right? We can't talk about anything from the movie until it premieres."
Aberdeen pried his hand away, drawing a few frantic breaths before huffing, "I know, | know. Maybe I really did
mistake you for someone else..."
She looked sheepish, but Marguerite didn't think much of it.
Almost without thinking, Marguerite glanced at Silas again. He was still gazing out the window, as if completely
oblivious to the commotion behind him.
“Alright, let's not disturb them any longer," Aberdeen's father said gently. "Didn't you say you wanted to read my
fortune with your tarot cards?"
Aberdeen's eyes lit up. She grabbed a thick stack of tarot cards from her seat, but instead of turning to her
father, she looked at Marguerite.

"Hayes' mom, do you wantto read your cards?"
Marguerite had always liked children, especially ones as sweet and well- mannered as Aberdeen. How could she
say no? She nodded, smiling. "Alright."
Aberdeen eyed Marguerite, then suddenly pointed at Silas. “Hayes' mom, you keep looking at Margot's dad. Let's
ask him to join us!"
Mortified, Marguerite froze. Had she really been that obvious? Even the kids noticed her glances?
Hayes caught Margot's eye and gestured subtly; Margot understood at once and dragged Silas over, plopping
him down right next to Marguerite.
The seat wasn't wide, and with Silas sitting so close, Marguerite felt as though a gentle heat radiated from him,
enveloping her. For a moment, it almost felt like he was holding her in his arms.
Damn it.
Her cheeks flushed hot, and she quickly turned her face away, refusing to look at him.
"Daddy, Aberdeen's really good at tarot. Why don't you play too-with Ms. Marguerite?"
Silas' voice was cool, his tone leaving no room for argument. "I don't play children's games."
His refusal was clear, but Aberdeen didn't seem to notice. "It's not just a kid's game, Uncle! I'm really accurate.
Just try it and see!"
She held the deck up between Silas and Marguerite. "Here, you each pick a card."
Marguerite had no idea what Aberdeen wanted to read, so she just picked a card at random.
Silas, on the other hand, sat motionless, not reaching for the deck. Sensing his hesitation, Marguerite was about
to suggest they just play without him, when he finally drew a card as well.
Aberdeen's face brightened with satisfaction. "Okay, let's see what you picked!"
They turned their cards over. Aberdeen's eyes widened with delight. "Whoa, look!
You two got a matching set!"
A matching set?
Marguerite looked down. Her card
showed an angel, while Silas’
depicted a devil. Both figures
cradled half a heart. Placed side by side, the cards formed a single, whole heart.
Was there sspecial meaning to this?
Marguerite had no idea.
Aberdeen leaned in, studying Marguerite's card. After a long moment, she asked, "Hayes' mom, are you dating
Margot's dad?"
Marguerite's embarrassment deepened, and she stammered, "No, no, nothing like that."
"But your angel card says you're the devil's true love! Since Mr. Hayes drew the devil card, in the tarot world,
that means you're meant to be together."
Kelvin interjected from the front seat, "Aberdeen, don't make things up. Tarot cards aren't real life."
"I'm not making it up! That's what the cards say."
Aberdeen pouted, then turned to Silas, "Fine, let's try a different reading. Uncle, say three people's names-
anyone you want."
Finally, Marguerite dared to glance at Silas. His expression was as calm and unreadable as ever, as if he truly
didn't care about the game.
Still, he asked, "Can they be men or women?"
Aberdeen considered this. "Sure! These days, no one cares about that stuff anymore."
Wait-sexual orientation?
Marguerite nearly laughed, but just then, Silas's low voice rumbled in her ear: "Margot, Hayes..."
He paused, glancing at Marguerite
out of the corner of his eye. For sreason, she found herself holding her breath, unexpectedly eager to hear
the third nhe would say.
